The detour route will consist of traveling on 52nd or 76th Avenue South to 45th Street South. The new roundabout will be a single lane roundabout, similar to the one located at 52nd Avenue South. Each area will be affected differently during this time. Phase 1 of this project will consist of constructing a roundabout at the intersection of 64th Avenue South and County Highway 17. Other work throughout the project will consist of widening the shoulders to accommodate a three-lane road section along with milling two inches of the existing road surface and replacing it with new hot bituminous pavement. The road top over the new box culverts will also be graded down to allow for improved vision and stopping sight distance. The existing bridge will be replaced with three 13-foot-long, 14-foot-wide, and 17-foot-tall precast reinforced concrete box culverts. Once the roundabout is completed, the next phase 2 of construction will be replacing the existing bridge structure on County Highway 17 north of Riverdale Drive.
